Job Details:

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate our small fleet of tractors and other production equipment under the direction of the farm manager.
- Tractor work includes primary tillage, bed prep, planting, mowing, spreading amendments, cultivation, laying plastic, bed lifting for harvest, cover-cropping, and general field upkeep.
- Assist with equipment maintenance.
- Assist with the design and construction of new equipment and infrastructure.
- Work with the Crop Production Assistant to set up and run irrigation system.
- Participate in additional aspects of field work and food production including weeding, mulching, pruning, trellising, tarping, harvesting, washing, and packing.
- Be an active member of a small team to take on projects, solve problems, and work together.​

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ideal candidate will have 3+ years prior experience with equipment operation on a similar scale (10-30 acres), be mechanically minded, and have stellar communication skills.
- Carpentry skills are a plus!

A&P DEPARTMENT FULL SEASON TEAM

ABOUT THE POSITION
The Annual and Perennial (A&P) full season member is responsible for assisting the department manager and leads with all stages of planning and implementing our annual and perennial department growing environments at Cedar Circle including our propagation areas, greenhouses, garden retail area, outdoor gardens, and perennial nursery. Your primary responsibilities will include seeding, planting, watering, and weeding all while providing excellent customer service. As a hands-on member of a diversified farm team, the Annual and Perennial team member will also work alongside other department teams to accomplish projects as requested.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Major responsibilities:
Work with your team and implement all production of Annuals, Perennials and Flower Gardens to include sanitizing greenhouses and materials, seeding, potting, watering, fertilizing, and monitoring of greenhouse temperatures and systems
Assist with receiving orders, unpackaging, displaying, pricing, moving into greenhouses in coordination with department manager
Proactively maintain all retail areas during 8-month sales season including creating and maintaining aesthetically pleasing displays
Provide excellent customer service for all Annual and Perennial department visitors
Help implement all aspects of the flower gardens including field preparation, planting, weeding, irrigating, harvesting, and pest management

QUALIFICATIONS
At least one season previous greenhouse production, plant propagation, nursery crop or outdoor garden experience preferred, willing to consider other experience
Consistent attention to both detail and efficiency
Positive, friendly interpersonal skills and clear consistent communication skills
Ability to take direction, ask for help/clarity, and give/accept constructive feedback
Ability to work independently and within a team
Flexible, creative, and able to perform well in diverse conditions and under pressure

COMPENSATION
This is a seasonal position, full-time March through October. The Annual and Perennial Lead is an hourly position with benefits including fresh produce, paid sick time and a 20% discount to our farm stand. Pay range is $14-17/hour, depending on qualifications.

ABOUT THE POSITION
The role of the Education Lead is to assist in developing, managing, and facilitating our agriculturally and ecologically focused youth, family, and adult education programs. There is a strong focus on developing and delivering lessons and activities for our farm programs, of which our most popular is our summer camp.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Development and implementation of new and existing programs in conjunction with the Education Programs Manager (homeschool classes, preschool classes, family programs, teen cooking classes, summer camp, adult classes, etc.)
Working with the Education Programs Manager to create seasonal program curriculum, including lesson plans and educational materials for programs
Planning, implementation, and maintenance of the Education Garden throughout the season
Serving as Assistant Director during the 9 weeks of summer day camp
Working with the Education Manager to train seasonal education staff prior to the start of youth programs
Managing the Junior Counselor program for summer camp, including the training session
Supervising and supporting seasonal education staff and volunteers to ensure programs run smoothly
Providing a positive experience for parents or caretakers of children participating in youth programs
Collaborating with other departments at Cedar Circle Farm to lead or coordinate educational community programs
Assisting the organization in hosting fundraisers and events
Representing Cedar Circle Farm & Education Center at recruitment events, camp fairs, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS
Have experience teaching about farming, nature, or related subjects, and a strong desire to help create and teach experiential nature based curriculum in a farm setting
Two years of relevant work experience, preferably in the education field
Enjoy working with learners of all ages, from preschool through adults
Be inclusive and embrace diversity of all learners
Be comfortable and have experience working in a garden
Be proactive and self-motivated
Possess strong communication skills in professional and educational settings
Be detail oriented and competent in balancing multiple projects and deadlines

Head Over Fields is a small, certified organic mixed vegetable farm located in the foothills of Mount Philo in Charlotte, Vermont. We are entering our 3rd growing season, cultivating 3+ acres of vegetables, herbs and flowers with plans to expand. In 2022, we added two 30x96’ high tunnels, a 30x50’ propagation greenhouse and a 65 hp tractor to our team! We have a robust roadside farm stand on busy Rt. 7 to showcase our produce alongside other Vermont-made provisions. Additionally, we attend the Shelburne Farmers Market on Saturdays and distribute wholesale to local restaurants.

We are looking for 1-2 people to assist in the day-to-day operations of our Farm Stand. This is a seasonal position from May - November 2023 and could be a part-time or full-time position (20-40 hours/week). This person will report to the Owner/Farm Manager. The ideal candidate would have the following experience and skills:

Knowledge of and commitment to Vermont agriculture and artisanal Vermont products
Familiarity with seasonal produce

General Farm Overview
Luna Bleu Farm is a diversified organic farm in South Royalton,VT. We (Tim and Suzanne, farmer/owners of Luna Bleu) have been growing high quality food for our community for over 30 years. We are a relatively small farm with about ¾ acre in no-till, 3 acres of reduced tillage, 1/3 acre in high-tunnels and 30 acres in pasture and forest. Primarily the farm focuses on producing vegetables, blueberries, and spring bedding plants and raising laying hens and meat chickens.
We grow and market year-round through our CSA, Saturday farmers market, and a few local businesses. Season extension and winter growing in high tunnels is an important part of our operation. We work hands-on with our employees to share the knowledge we have gained over our years of farming. We have a great core crew and hope to hire a few more people to round out the team.

Vegetable Production Assistant position
We are looking for a person with experience in vegetable production or project management, team organization and leadership, to work closely with Tim and Suzanne (farmer/owners) and crew in all aspects of organic vegetable production—from soil preparations to market. This position has lots of opportunity for learning and growth, with the possibility for growth into a management and farm partnership.

Responsibilities include:
Help manage succession seedings, seedling production and transplant schedules.
Help coordinate small field crew to carry out weekly field work plans. Work with Tim and Suzanne to understand overall farm goals, and problem solve to support workflow.
Help record dates and information for seeding, transplanting, harvest and help monitor and record notes on insects, disease and crop quality
Participate in other aspects of vegetable production including harvest, wash/pack, CSA distribution and farmers market with the possibility to take on leadership roles depending on interest and strengths.
Work with the whole farm team to problem solve, improve farm systems and customer service/experience at Luna Bleu.
Possibilities to be involved in education and community outreach and work with farm and community partners.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of prior market vegetable production experience and related experience, with production management or project leadership positions.
