ABOUT CEDAR CIRCLE FARM AND EDUCATION CENTER
Cedar Circle Farm and Education Center is a certified organic vegetable and berry farm with a
farmstand and education center. We have retail greenhouses, a farm kitchen, a coffee shop, and a unique
CSA program.
Our organization has a deep commitment to developing regenerative agriculture practices for our annual
vegetable and flower production farm and to educating consumers about the need to support farms who
are committed to growing food in a manner that improves and nourishes the soil. We are looking for a
detail oriented team member to support and improve our greenhouse growing systems and who is eager to

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Greenhouse Production Lead is responsible for supporting our vegetable production team by
managing all vegetable production department indoor growing environments at Cedar Circle, including
our propagation house, high tunnels, and movable greenhouses. Your primary responsibility will be
seeding and watering, planting, pruning, harvesting, and caring for our high tunnel and greenhouse crops.
This position is also responsible for planning and managing Cedar Circle Farm’s annual vegetable and
herb plant starts and plays a role in maintaining all infrastructure related to protected culture growing. As
a member of a diversified farm team, the greenhouse production lead will also work alongside our field
team in harvest, planting, and weeding projects as needed.

COMPENSATION
This is a year-round position, full-time March through October and part-time November through
February. The Greenhouse Production Lead is an hourly position with benefits including health benefits
(50% of the group premium is employer paid), paid time off, fresh produce, and a 20% discount to our
farm stand. Pay range is $17-18/hour, depending on qualifications.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Annual and Perennial manager is responsible for all stages of planning and implementing our annual and perennial department growing environments at Cedar Circle including propagation areas, greenhouses, garden retail area, outdoor cut flower garden and perennial nursery. You will be responsible for planning, ordering, record keeping, and hiring and training a team to implement the department's seasonal plans. You will be excited about developing educational opportunities and finding creative ways to connect visitors to the land and food production systems. By working closely with our retail, education and marketing staff, you will ensure that our visitors are provided with top notch customer service and educated about the products and systems at CCFEC.

COMPENSATION
This is a part-time year-round position. Full-time February-October, Part-time November-January. The Annual and Perennial Manager is an hourly position with benefits including sick time accrual, health insurance contributions, fresh produce, and discount to our farm stand. Rural Vermont Quarterly Member Forum

Lamb Slaughter & Processing Workshop

Come join Rural Vermont and Mary Lake on Saturday, Dec. 17th at Argyll Farm in Bennington for an on-farm slaughter and processing workshop. In the first half of this 2-part workshop, participants will learn how to humanely slaughter a lamb and then how to efficiently butcher and process a lamb in the second half of the workshop. Participants can choose to attend one or both sections.

Reports To: Farm Manager/Owner

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. Days and hours can change at the discretion of the Farm Manager/Owner. Must have flexibility to work weekends.

Scope: The Farmhand will work closely with the Farm Manager/Owner to assist in all aspects of livestock operation, including executing grazing and livestock plans, maintaining, and tending to day-to-day animal needs.

Role and Responsibilities:
• Prepares feed for the animals.
• Feeds and waters livestock and monitors food and water supplies.
• Shift animals between grazing areas to insure they have sufficient access to food.
• Nurses’ unwell animals.
• Provide medical treatment, such as administering medications and vaccinations, or arrange for veterinarian to provide for more extensive treatment.
• Administer vaccines to livestock and maintains vaccine records.
• Responsible for maintenance of buildings, pens, yards and fences.
• Cleans stalls, pens and equipment, using disinfectant solutions, brushes, shovels, water hoses or pumps.
• Receive and store feed, hay and other supplies and materials.
• Drive trucks, tractors, and other equipment to distribute feed to animals.
• Groom, clip, trim, dock ears and tails, or shear coats to collect hair.
• Mark livestock to identify ownership and grade, using brands, tags, paint or tattoos.
• Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:
• Minimum 3 years farming experience.
• Superb communication, organizational and interpersonal skills required.
• Maintains all safety standards and protocols in accordance with state and federal laws.
• Hardworking, team player with an energetic and positive attitude.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.

Education:
• Minimum High School Diploma or GED
• College degree preferred or equivalent job-related experience in lieu of degree.
• Certifications a plus.

Work Environment:
This job operates in exposure to direct sunlight and weather 90% of the time. This employee will operate equipment daily including but not limited to tractors, harvesters, forklifts, spraying and spreading equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, lift, push, pull, stoop, or bend. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift products and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds as needed and operate equipment.

CSA Coordinator & Wash Pack Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Wash and pack fresh produce for 400+ CSA shares and local wholesale accounts in our clean, bright, spacious, well-organized wash station for 12-20 hours/week.
- Assist farm manager with tracking product inventory, assessing crop availability, and building CSA our custom packed boxes full of high quality, diverse selection of products.
- Manage storage spaces for crop quality and efficient work flow.
- Place orders with outside vendors and coordinate delivery and storage.
- Assist Farm Manager with CSA member communications and CSA delivery builder.
- Generate CSA and wholesale produce pick lists for accurate and efficient harvests.
- Coordinate with Willing Hands to orient gleaning team to field crops for gleaning.
- Participate in additional aspects of food production including planting, weeding, mulching, pruning, trellising, and harvesting.
- Be an active member of a small team to take on projects, solve problems, and work together.
- Assist in the farm kitchen making kimchi, kraut, herbed salts, and other value-added products in the fall.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- The right candidate for this position will be detail oriented, love rocking out to their favorite playlist, and thrive in the fast-paced environment of our wash station.
- Ideal candidate will have 3+ years prior farm or restaurant kitchen experience.

​-This position is split between vegetable production work (3 days/week) and delivery (2 days/week).
-Help harvest and pack 400+ CSA Shares, plus wholesale orders, and deliver to eight sites around the Upper Valley.
-Participate in many aspects of food production including planting, weeding, mulching, harvesting, washing, and packing produce.
-Be an active member of a small team to take on projects, solve problems, and work together.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Be committed to safe and responsible driving
