This webinar will teach about common diseases on dairy farms and how fluid therapy is a useful treatment tool. Participants will learn about the different ways to administer fluids and the supplies needed to do it correctly.

Review of the 3 calving stages and care; the normal progression of calving; how to tell when to intervene; what to know including equipment needs, determining calf’s position, appropriate assisting techniques, and when it’s time to call the vet.

Vermont Organic Farmers LLC and Vermont Technical College are excited to announce our collaboration on an upcoming organic certification training. This training is for existing farmers, new farmers, people interested in becoming an organic specialist for a company, agency, organization, and/or if you want to pursue a career in organic certification or as an organic inspector.
For the past 22 years, NODPA has moved the Field Days to different regions and states each year in order to reach as many organic dairy farm families as possible, especially when traveling long distance isn’t possible. So this year, we are excited to return to Vermont for the first time in ten years.
Take a bird-friendly walk through the woods! Join us at Summit Maple Farm with Nick Sibley of Vermont Organic Farmers and Vermont Audubon’s Conservation Biologist, Steve Hagenbuch, to learn about Vermont’s “sweetest” bird habitats and ecology of the sugarbush. Summit Maple Farm is both certified organic and part of the Bird-Friendly Project.
Thomas Case of Bone Mountain Farm will demystify some of the basics of seed saving in this introductory workshop. Learn how to choose which seeds are easiest to save, how to collect, clean, and store your seeds. Discover the difference between wet seeds, like tomatoes and cucumbers, and dry seeds, like beans and corn. As a seed grower for the Abenaki Land Link Project, Thomas will also show this year’s crops on his farm and share his experience saving these Indigenous varieties.
Take a stroll through the orchards at the beginning of apple season with Christiana and Barney Hodges. Learn what it means to grow apples organically, what the Eco Apple program is all about, some tips and tricks from years of experience, and do an apple tasting. Every growing season is different, in terms of weather, pests, and fungal disease.
