Crop Cash DouBles 3SquaresVT Benefits SPENT at Farmers Markets, helping households purchase more fresh produce from local farmers!
In the summer of 2015 a new currency began circulating throughout farmers markets in Vermont. This currency, called Crop Cash, is a double-value coupon program that promotes the purchase of fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs at farmers markets that accept 3SquaresVT/SNAP benefits. In essence, Crop Cash is an incentive dollar that is earned for 3SquaresVT/SNAP purchases for use on the future purchase of fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs, seeds, and starts at the market.
Working with Wholesome Wave and farmers markets across the state, NOFA-VT developed the Crop Cash Program to allow the 85,000 Vermonters currently receiving 3SquaresVT funds to turn $10 of their 3SquaresVT into $20 in food every time they visit the farmers market.
