The farm assistants will work closely with owners (Jon and Karin) and H2A field crew (Denton and Mario) to ensure daily operations are complete. This position incorporates all aspects of the farming operation including wash/pack, seeding, field work, greenhouse work and administrative work.. Assistant Farmer Responsibilities
- Guiding H2A crew with tasks including: interpretation of seeding logs, field maps, daily objectives, and organization in the pack house
- Maintain and establish wholesale accounts, communicate with customers via email/phone and administer invoices using quickbooks
- Oversee wholesale and farm market packout including weighing and labeling of all products
- Communicate and coordinate with farm market staff
- Delivering to wholesale sites and our farm store
- Assisting farm owner with the production plan, field map, and seeding schedules
- Opportunity for tractor work: (disc, plow, seed, spread, fork lift).
- Assist farm owner with on farm projects that may include: basic carpentry, building high tunnels, & general repairs/maintenance
Qualifications and Qualities
Qualifications necessary:
- Minimum 1 years of vegetable experience
- Strong communication (oral and written) skills, positive attitude, solution-oriented
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Ability to share and accept feedback in a team environment
- Ability to use (or willingness to learn) Quickbooks & Google docs/sheets
- Passion and interest in working/learning about small-scale, low-input, sustainable vegetable and herb production
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively both independently and as a team member with minimal supervision
- Self-starter, self-disciplined, goal orientated
- Must have reliable transportation and be punctual
Availability
Season Start date- April 1st-May 15.
Seasonal end- mid November
Full-time position may be available for right candidate
