The Flack Family Farm is a small, diversified, family farm with a thriving fermented vegetables business. We’re hiring for a seasonal position (May 15-November 15, 2023) with housing included. Work includes assisting with all aspects of vegetable growing: making beds, tedding hay, planting, weeding and fertilizing. In the fall, tasks will shift to harvesting, washing and processing vegetables. The right person will have a willingness to work in all types of weather conditions, be able to lift 50 lbs regularly, creatively solve problems and learn efficient methods for growing vegetables. Opportunities exist to learn about our grass-based livestock and rotational grazing techniques, like assisting with herd and flock moves, setting up and taking down portable fence and moving animals to new pasture. You’ll also learn rural living skills, like cutting and splitting wood, building fires in a wood stove, engaging with seasonal rhythms and cooking with farm fresh foods.
The housing included with the seasonal position is a rustic cabin with a wood stove, electricity and internet, outhouse, and seasonal cold water. There is an outdoor shower on the farm as well.
Milk, beef, lamb and seasonal vegetables are provided by the farm. The cabin and food are part of the compensation package, along with a weekly salary.
