Job Overview: The General Manager (GM) will successfully run the operations of Clarion River Organics (CRO) food hub from the warehouse headquarters in Sligo, PA. Housing is provided in an apartment attached to the warehouse. The GM will be an excellent team leader that communicates well with all the parties involved including Three Rivers Grown (the sister distribution company), the Amish farmers supplying the produce, the customer base of primarily wholesale accounts, and the small team of employees that work for CRO. The GM will have the passion to both implement a vision for long term success as well as roll up their sleeves and work hard to make the day to day tasks go smoothly.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Manage the supply side of the business via strong ongoing communication with the farmers in order to develop a detailed and accurate crop production plan.
  • Create demand for products and grow sales by building relationships with all accounts.
  • Oversee all warehouse operations including receiving and storing products, tracking inventory and quality control, and upkeeping utilities and maintenance.
  • Maintain all necessary sales and financial records via Local Food Marketplace software.
  • Initiate constructive communication with other CRO and Three Rivers Grown staff including the owner, the bookkeeper, the warehouse workers, and the drivers.
  • Foster a positive work environment where healthy relationships are the norm, communication is open, and the business is known for being a positive place to work.
  • Ability to drive an 18-foot box truck for farm pick-up and delivery

Qualifications:

  • Ability to start working immediately is preferred but not required.
  • Prior food hub and/or management experience required.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft products, such as Excel
  • Superior attention to detail, willingness to work hard, and an upbeat, “can-do” attitude even in stressful situations.
  • Drivers License and ability to lift 50 pounds
  • A passion for organic agriculture and local foods.
  • Interest in living in a rural community and embracing a seasonally influenced work load.
