We are currently seeking a cheesemaker to come join our team.
This job is an excellent opportunity for a cheesemaker to join our small cheesemaking team. The position combines time and duties spent managing the cheese vat as well as cellar affinage.
A desire to continue learning and strong interest in cheesemaking are a must! Some previous/relevant experience is required. This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested in a career in farmstead cheesemaking. We hold ourselves, and are held to, the highest standards of quality, consistency, and food safety in our industry. Anyone looking to learn what that takes, will find this job challenging and incredibly interesting.
This position includes work that is repetitive, requires serious attention to detail, and is physically demanding, it also entails lots and lots of cleaning and sanitation.
General Duties Include:
Assisting with and eventually becoming proficient running cheese makes for our four styles of cheese
Brining/Salting Cheese
Affinage Work
Wrapping Cheese
Manage daily tasks and other cheesemakers
Food safety certifications preferred
General knowledge or experience with food safety plans a must
Typical work week approx. 30-40hrs/week.
The cows don't stop making milk, so everyone here has to be willing to work a weekend day. We do our best to give everyone some holidays off but a willingness to work others is necessary. Must live locally or be willing to commute during early hours of the morning.
