The Center for an Agricultural Economy seeks a Deputy Director who brings organizational leadership that will support and further develop the human and operational resources of our organization. Working with our wide breadth of services, multiple community programs and complex food hub enterprises, the job includes:
-Facilitating a supportive workplace for thriving staff, cross-functional coordination and teamwork across CAE departments, programs, and initiatives.
-Fostering a learning culture grounded in meaningful data and measurable impact to inform future strategic thinking and decision making
-Representing CAE in statewide and regional conversations to deepen partnerships that elevate critical priorities in values-based food system development.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: Deputy Director
Reports to: Executive Director
Schedule: Full time or 80%, primarily on site with some opportunity for periodic remote work
Compensation: Minimum salary is $75,000/year full time.

Hiring Process
A hiring team that includes CAE staff and board will lead the process and participate in first and second round interviews. Second round candidates will tour CAE spaces at Atkins Field, the Vermont Food Venture Center, and the CAE Farm Connex warehouse to meet and interact with other staff. Interview questions will be shared with applicants ahead of interviews.
