Are you interested in joining other VT & northeast farmers to learn about the history of racism in our food systems, discuss the roles we play, and talk about steps we can take to dismantle racism in a predominantly white state/region? Organic farmers Valerie and Eli at Honey Field Farm are organizing a study group to focus on these topics and more!
The National Young Farmers Coalition (NYFC) developed this Racial Equity Toolkit, a really great, accessible resource for groups to use to facilitate these kinds of conversations, including:
- meeting structure ideas
- articles, podcasts, and other accessible materials for busy farmers who want to participate but are short on time
- prompts for discussion
- strategies to make change on our farms & within our communities
With support from VT's National Young Farmers Coalition chapter, they are planning a study group and would love to hear from anyone interested in organizing or participating. We encourage BIPOC, womyn, queer & trans folx to participate & help organize the conversation.
If you are interested in participating, please reach out to Valerie ([email protected]) directly if you'd like to be involved.
