Governor Shumlin proclaimed that June 7, 2016 is the Vermont Gives – Day of Giving. Vermont Gives is a first statewide effort in Vermont that will harness the collective power of charities, families, businesses and individuals to support Vermont communities. “Vermont Gives was established as a day to unite all of the people of Vermont in the celebration and reaffirmation of that spirit of philanthropy, raising both funds and awareness," said Governor Shumlin. "The day highlights how people can work together to share commitments, build stronger communities, and improve the quality of life for all residents.”
The online event will bring together organizations from all over the state and encourage Vermonters to give to the nonprofits in their communities.
Established by Common Good Vermont, in partnership with the Vermont Community Foundation Vermont Gives allows participating nonprofit organizations an opportunity to energize their respective donor bases and to tell their story throughout the broader region. The 24-hour giving challenge starts at Midnight and ends at 11:59 p.m. on June 7th, 2016.
Donating to NOFA-VT on June 7th will support our work for organic farms, healthy food and strong communities. There are a lot of initiatives we are currently raising funds for this summer, including our Farm Share Program that subsidizes CSA shares for limited-income Vermonters, supporting farmer teams to come together for the second annual Farmer Olympics being held in Vershire this summer, and school field trips to organic farms.
