Sweet Roots Farm is a diverse Organic vegetable and berry farm in Charlotte, VT. The farm has been in operation for almost 40 years as the Charlotte Berry Farm and became Sweet Roots in 2021. We have 5 acres of blueberries, a few acres of blackberries and black raspberries and about 2-3 acres of Organic diversified vegetables, herbs and flowers. The farm is open for Pick-Your-Own blueberries in July and August. We have an on-farm retail store where our farm grown products are sold. The store also features items from local creators, growers and producers and products we simply love.
We are hiring an experienced, full-time, seasonal Field Crew position
Field Crew tasks include:
Pick blueberries, blackberries and black raspberries
All tasks related to annual production such as propagation seeding, bed preparation, transplanting, weeding and harvesting
General upkeep of farm production areas and community spaces
Assist in Wash and Pack
Assist with Pest/Disease management
Assist with whole farm irrigation
Willingness to take on responsibility (such as propagation house management)
Prune perennial plantings
Assist in all farm projects
Field Crew Qualifications:
At least 1 year of experience in vegetable or berry production required
Willingness to take on shared responsibilities
Ability to take direction from others, work independently or as a team member
Positive attitude, reliable, critical thinker, self-motivated, punctual
Efficient, organized and detail-oriented
Excellent communication skills, willingness to ask questions, ask for help
Ability troubleshoot independently, work in all weather conditions and lift 40 lbs safely
Reliable transportation
Details:
All employees are required to work 1 weekend day
Season is April 1 - October 31, 2023 with potential for extension for right candidate
Compensation includes pay of $15-17 per hour depending on experience and availability, access to farm produce, discount in our retail market, farm merch and great group of folks to spend your time with!
