Fashion Show Recap

NOFA-VT was the non-profit partner with the 9th annual Montpelier Fashion Show on Friday, June 7 – what a fabulous and fun event!Veggie Dress by Liz Pieroni Anne-Marie Keppel, event coordinator, said, “For the past eight events the show has taken place in the middle of State Street in Montpelier but since it has outgrown the street it is moving to the State House lawn.  And, here is where the partnering with NOFA comes in!  Ceres, the lovely Roman goddess of agriculture will be overlooking the event and the theme will be A Night in Ancient Rome.  Ceres is a healthy and beautiful woman who eats lots of organic fruits and vegetables - and she is very fashionable!” Under the watchful eyes and encouragement of Ceres, the audience cheered on the models from bridal shops, businesses, designers and clothing stores from the Montpelier area, as well as several unusual creations. The NOFA model, Nikki Laxar of Burlington, wore a veggie dress created by artist Liz Pieroni with organic vegetables donated by Pete’s Greens.  The bodice was made of red cabbage leaves and her skirt was of lettuce and chard leaves, highlighted by her radish necklace and kale hair accessories. Brigitte Derel, High Mowing Organic Seeds Marketing Associate, wore laminated seed packets and catalogue pages. Yestermorrow Design/Build School strolled down the runway with hammers and chainsaws. Even the Eat More Kale artist, Bo Muller-Moore, was featuring his famous silk-screened t-shirt, along with one of his other themes, “I’d Tap That.”  All in all it was a high-energy, creative, family event. Thanks to Anne-Marie and the Fashion Show for inviting us to partner!
