Farm to School Month Celebration with Senator Leahy

Thursday, October 10, 2019 - 11:00am to 2:30pm

You are invited to join us for a press conference and lunch with farmers and legislators to celebrate Farm to School Month.

This event will feature remarks from people integral to Vermont's Farm to School Network, U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy, Secretary Anson Tebbetts (Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets), Commissioner of Health Dr Levine, and farmers from West Farm and Choiniere Farm. We will be celebrating the award of two USDA grants to support Vermont schools and there will be a farm to school activity. Please arrive on time for the festivities.

October is National Farm to School Month, a time to celebrate the connections happening all over the country between children and local agriculture. From taste tests in the cafeteria and nutrition education activities in the classroom, to farm visits and school garden harvest parties, schools, early childhood sites, farms, communities and organizations in all 50 states, Washington, D.C. and U.S. Territories join in the celebrations.
