Basket Weaving: The Carrying Tray
Saturday, April 17, 2021 - 10:00am
As spring approaches, gardeners are making preparations for a productive growing season. Whether planting, tending or harvesting your garden, a multi-purpose basket often proves to be a useful tool for all growers. Join basket-maker Benjamin Mayock and learn to weave your very own “Carrying Tray". This a flat bottomed, short-sided and square basket designed to hold everything from loose produce to flowers to containers of berries. A simple and robust weave combined with a wide rim make the “Carrying Tray” one of the most useful, resilient and simple-to-weave baskets available to active gardeners.
Registration fee includes workshop fee and materials to create one "Carrying Tray." You will need the following additional materials and tools: strong scissors or clippers (our Joyce Chen scissors are great for this), a flat headed screwdriver, a 5 gallon bucket or tote to fill with water to soak the materials prior to the workshop.
This workshop will be held online. Local participants may pick up their materials at Red Wagon Plants in Hinesburg, Vermont prior to the workshop. We are able to send materials to non-local participants with the added cost of $12 for shipping (please choose shipping when making your purchase, and order before April 5 to allow time for shipping and handling). A link to the workshop will be provided to all confirmed registrants.
