We’re looking to hire a seasonal, full time garden assistant to work in the Putney School vegetable gardens with the garden crew. The candidate must be reliable, responsible, hard-working, have a positive attitude, and enjoy working in a team. The garden assistant will be a member of the garden crew, performing tasks that include transplanting, weeding, hoeing, harvesting, and seeding. Position will include some tractor work if interested, as well as other responsibilities which may include, depending on interest and experience: being responsible for direct seeding of crops, working with Putney School Summer Program students, etc.

Members of the garden crew are also expected to do a few barn chore shifts on the dairy farm each week, including some weekend shifts, as well as occasionally helping with haying and other farm tasks. Position is 45 to 55 hours per week; pay begins at $10 an hour but may be higher depending on experience. Position start and end dates are flexible but are approximately May 15 to Sept 15. Candidate must be able to perform physical labor and pass a background check. Rustic housing and meals are provided along with meals.
