Farm Steward at Philo Ridge Farm

Philo Ridge Farm is a 400-acre historic farm that brings together the rich cultural past of the region to develop the local agricultural economy and respect the ecosystem. The property is used for a mixture of activities and operations including: mixed vegetable production, flowers, orchards, sheep, chickens, cattle, horses, hay, and pigs. The Farm Steward will be responsible for assisting with the general upkeep of the farm as well as several aspects of livestock care and management. We seek candidates who have some experience working with livestock, who have general landscaping experience such weed whacking and mowing and who possess an interest in participating in vegetable production. This position can have flexible hours. We are looking for short-term help until the first of the year. However, there is potential for longer-term employment. On-site housing may be available.
- Livestock feeding/chores and assisting with the daily grazing rotations and movement of livestock
- Light tractor work, hay procurement, compost turning and brush mowing
- Landscaping and general maintenance tasks
- Assist with mowing, raking, baling and stacking round and square bales
- Building projects and general farm upkeep
- Watering perennial beds and trees
- Repair and maintenance of housing, pens, fencing and feeding equipment
- Assist with other livestock tasks as requested and/or needed
- Assist with vegetable production as needed
