Farmer Correspondence Program

Farmer Correspondence One of the most beloved Farm to Community Mentor projects is our Farmer Correspondence Program which links farmers throughout Vermont with K-8 classrooms in their regions.

Farmers write letters to their pen pal classrooms during the winter and spring describing their daily and seasonal activities around the farm—fall harvests, winter chores, spring lambing, concerns and excitements, routines and surprises.  Classrooms read and discuss the letters, and respond with group or individual letters. Participating classrooms are eligible to apply for visits by the farmer to the classroom, or for the classroom to visit the farm.

If you'd like to participate, contact Abbie Nelson.
