List of CSAs
Community Supported Agriculture farms, or CSAs, offer prepaid subscriptions to the farm's produce for the season. Most CSAs offer shareholders a basket every week of the veggies and herbs that are in season on the farm. Shares vary from farm to farm, sometimes even including eggs, cheeses, flowers, and meat. Some CSAs even offer shares that go through the winter months. Becoming a member of a CSA allows you to know you’re eating fresh, local food and to meet the farm and people who grow your food! You also get the satisfaction of supporting local agriculture: the prepaid CSA arrangements are a source of financial security for Vermont’s farmer. CSAs have been very popular recently. Be sure to sign up early (typically in the early spring) before subscriptions are filled!

Popoma Farm is a family farm in Whiting, Vermont, owned by Charlie and Karen Le Roy. We raised our own 3 kids and 22 others to be strong and healthy on our farm-grown food, which we've been doing since 1976 without chemical fertilizers, herbicides or pesticides. Our two little grandsons represent another generation in our farmhouse, which was built ~1800 by one of the Green Mountain Boys. We plant by the moon, use organic methods, and believe in sustainable agriculture. Our farm is a place where people find beauty, friendship and generosity. Popoma Farm flower gardens are known throughout Addison and Rutland counties. We milked Jersey cows for many years, and now Charlie makes blue-ribbon baled hay. Karen is an academic tutor and makes Popoma Farm “Bug Stuff” herbal insect repellent. Karen received Addison County Field Days' first “Premier Gardener” award and is portrayed in Peter Miller’s Vermont Farm Women.

- We offer a one size "Regular SHARE" of organic vegetables for a sliding scale cost of $400 to $450. What you pay within this scale is up to you. In addition to the bounty of vegetables distributed on Thursdays, members will be able to harvest green beans, snap peas, cherry tomatoes, hot peppers, herbs, and cut flowers in the U-pick garden. We are also offering organic beef, bread and herbal SHARES. The pick-up this year will be in the Barnard village behind the red farm house that is next door to the Unitarian Church (a 2 minute walk to Silver Lake). We hope to work with the members to make the pick-up more than just an exchange of vegetables, but also a festive gathering--a celebration of food and community (e.g. storytelling, music, food demos, etc.).

Visit our WebsiteFat Rooster Farm's unique type of CSA allows the local community the opportunity to support our organic practices that build up the soil, reduce runoff, create habitat for wildlife, and treat livestock humanely. Best of all, the products are fresher, taste better than food that's picked before it's ripe, and hasn't been shipped long distances to reach your table.

They are redeemable for any and all products the farm has to offer throughout the season. Anytime you purchase a product from the farm, it will be deducted from your initial investment. Again, anything, in any quantity you wish to purchase that the farm has to offer. Here's a partial list: eggs, pork, chicken, beef, lamb, Thanksgiving turkey (reserve early), guinea hen, started vegetable seedlings, several other varieties of produce, maple syrup, jams, jellies, and other value-added products, other miscellaneous treats (from fiddleheads to wild leeks). Large shares can be purchased for $460, small shares can be purchased for $235.

Vegetable production is the dominant activity, but livestock play an integral role.
