Weed Dating

This event is inspired by the speed dating phenomenon, which joins eligible singles together for cocktails and quick dates. Weed Dating is a whimsical and dressed-down version of this event in which interested individuals get their hands dirty helping area farmers while connecting with like-minded neighbors.

These events aim to not only strengthen community bonds through friendship and companionship, but also tighten the relationships between farmers and consumers. Three Weed Dating events held earlier in the season were well received by farmers and weeders alike.

Farm experience is not required, but please come prepared for an hour’s work. Not looking for love? Friend-seekers are welcome as well.

Weed Dating Details:

August 22nd, 1-4pm at Food Works at Two Rivers Center, Montpelier

September 5th, 1-4pm at Alchemy Gardens, Shrewsbury

September 19th, 1-4pm at Maplewood Organics, Highgate

October 16th, 2-5pm at Shelburne Orchards, Shelburne
Attendees will receive a tour of Shelburne Orchards and assist in strip-picking apple trees. Fruit harvested during the event will be donated to the Vermont Food Bank.
