VT Beef Producers’ Summer Social: Capitalizing on the Power of the Vermont Brand

July 30, 2011 - 10:00am - 3:00pm

Join members of the Vermont Beef Producers Association at the annual Summer Social! Amiel Cooper and Brian Kemp, of Mountain Meadows, will lead a farm tour, talk about their animal, feed, and cropping systems along with sharing their experiences with GAP certification and selling primarily into a regional wholesale market. We will have an informal discussion on how beef producers and processers might work together to take advantage of the Vermont brand through coordinated industry standards. We’ll be firing up the grill for a summer cook-out and a taste-test of steaks from around the state. Funded in part by the Ag Innovation Center and co-organized by VT Beef Producers Assoc., VT Agency of Ag and UVM Center for Sustainable Ag. Registration, directions and additional information are available at: www.vtmeat.blogspot.com or by contacting Sam Fuller at NOFA-VT (802) 434-4122 or sam@nofavt.org. Please note that the NOFA-VT Summer Workshop brochure mailed to the public listed the incorrect farm location - the farm is located in Sudbury near Orwell!
