Strawberry Production at Killdeer Farm

Jake and Liz Guest have been growing strawberries at Killdeer Farm since 1979. In this beginner intermediate workshop, they will cover their experience with growing this specialty crop, including the many challenges over the years. Topics include: variety selection, using plasticulture, row covers, drip irrigation and fertilization, mulching and weeding, and pollination. Pests and diseases will also be covered including management of cutworms, mites, tarnished plant bugs, strawberry leaf spot, and powdery mildew. Vern Grubinger, UVM Berry and Vegetable Specialist, will co-present this workshop.
