Soil Testing, Management, and Cover Crop Strategies & NOFAvore Social

September 12, 2012 - 4:00pm - 6:00pm

Join Mimi Arnstein of Wellspring Farm and Lynda Prim, NOFA VT’s Fruit & Vegetable Advisor, as they explain the nuances behind soil testing and management. They will share how to use soil tests to actively manage balanced soil fertility and incorporate principles of biological fertility management to improve the nutritional quality of crops. This workshop will assess short-term management practices that directly affect this year’s crops as well as increasing long-term soil quality through the use of cover crops and perennials. Wellspring Farm is managed by Mimi Arnstein, an enthusiastic student of soil science, who regularly uses all types of soil and plant tests to help with farm management decisions. Come see the results! The NOFAvore social to follow will feature products from Wellspring Farm. Come and share a feast and provide input on NOFA-VT’s strategic plan.
