Soil Resilience and Nutrition: Practical Management Strategies for Soil Fertility

Shelburne Farms Market Garden manager, Josh Carter, will lead this in depth workshop on the 7-acre market garden that produces organic vegetables, fruit, and flowers highlighted at the restaurant at The Inn at Shelburne Farms. The workshop will cover practical soil management strategies to improve biological soil fertility and enhance plant health. Learn how to manage for long-term fertility using local rock dusts, farm-made compost, cover cropping, and fallowing. Carter will also discuss their in-season fertility plan which uses biological inoculants, pre-plant fertilizers, nutrient drenches, and foliar sprays.

Directions: Enter through main gate at Shelburne Farms. Follow main road 0.5 miles and bare right at first intersection. Follow another 0.5 miles and bare left onto sugarbush road. Follow another 0.5 miles and take second driveway on left.

Parking: Parking will be at the market garden. Gravel parking area near house and nearby lawn should accommodate all vehicles.
