Season Extension and Late Summer Projects in the Home Garden & Celebration with Guest Vermont Secretary of Ag Chuck Ross

August 14, 2011 - 3:00pm - 6:00pm

Julie Rubaud, owner of Red Wagon Plants, will go over different tactics that home gardeners can employ to extend the gardening and fresh eating season through the winter. We will go over the list of crops that can be planted for eating in late fall and early winter; crops that can be over wintered for eating first thing in spring; how to bring herbs indoors for the winter; simple freezing and canning projects that can be tackled on a weeknight; how to store crops in your basement, garage, or closet; how to plant garlic; and how to put your garden to bed so that you can be planting a few things as early as possible in the spring.

Stay after the workshop to attend Red Wagon Plant’s 1st Annual Gardening Celebration, co-hosted by NOFA-VT. Special guest: Vermont Secretary of Agriculture Chuck Ross. Food and drinks provided. Please register here so we can get a head count for the picnic. Seating is limited, so please bring a folding chair. Thank you!
