Root Cellar Design, Construction, and Planting & Homestead Tour (NOFA-VT Summer Workshop Series Event)

July 10, 2010 - 10:30am - 2:30pm

Pre-registration required (limit 24).

We will explore a fabulous hillside root cellar, and examine the work requirements and cost to build it. We will also look at the gardens and learn the best ways to harvest and store the abundance. The last hour of the workshop will be a tour of True For Now Farm, a "semi-sustainable" homestead with dairy goats, poultry, work horses, pigs, perennial fruits, and woodlot.

Directions to 6506 Densmore Hill Road: Take route 4 into Woodstock. Turn Right on to Rt. 106 at the Woodstock Green. Go South on 106 exactly 3 miles. Park at a small turn out, on the left on the Kedron Brook, just before the stone bridge which is Densmore Hill Road. Carpool up Densmore.

Parking: Parking at the farm is limited to 5 cars, so please carpool by waiting for other folks to fill a car and then drive up 1/3 of a mile on Densmore Hill. Or just walk up! We are on the left.
