Practices to Promote Fresh Produce Food Safety for Direct Markets (NOFA-VT Summer Workshop Series Event)
This workshop, with Vern Grubinger of UVM Extension and Dave Rogers of NOFA-VT, will focus on key information and practical steps that vegetable growers who are not seeking or contemplating GAP certification can use to improve food safety-related practices on their farms. We will cover trends in food safety markets and regulations. A farm and facilities tour will focus on identification of critical food safety control points, exemplary practices, and practical improvement strategies. Buyers are welcome to attend.
Directions to Cedar Circle Farm: From I-91: Take Exit 14 for Thetford. Turn east on Highway 113 and go one mile to village of East Thetford and intersection of Route 5. Turn right (south) on Route 5. Just past the Mobil station, bear left at the Cedar Circle Farm sign onto Pavillion Road. Cross the railroad tracks, go 1/4 mile, and the farm is on the left. From Norwich, VT/Hanover, NH: Go north on Route 5 approximately nine miles from Norwich. Watch for the large red barn on your right. Immediately after, look for a Vermont road sign for Cedar Circle Farm. Just past the sign, turn right across the railroad tracks onto Pavillion Road. Go 3/4 mile, the farmstand is on your right.
