This workshop for beginning home, school, and community gardeners focuses on organic gardening tips and techniques. Topics include preparing raised beds, planting seeds and transplants, weeding and cultivating, managing pests, harvesting, and putting your garden to bed in the fall. A series of slides from the Community Teaching Garden at Ethan Allen Homestead will be used to illustrate key points. The workshop is presented by Jim Flint, director of Friends of Burlington Gardens and the Vermont Community Garden Network. The cost for the workshop is $15 for Burlington residents and $20 for nonresidents, with scholarships available for limited income gardeners to cover up to half of the workshop fee. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. Free seeds and door prizes will also be available!
