Growing Great Garlic: A Tutorial for Commercial Producers & VOF Social

July 9, 2012 - 4:00pm - 6:00pm

Come learn how High Meadows Farm grows over 35,000 heads of premium garlic per year. Tour the farm with owner Howard Prussack and learn his techniques and methods for growing large amounts of organic garlic. He’ll discuss the techniques and equipment used for planting and harvesting, weed control, fertilization, varietal selection, and addressing curing, cleaning and storage needs. High Meadows Farm is Vermont’s oldest certified organic farm, comprising 65 acres of rolling upland soils in historic Westminster. The NOFAvore social to follow will feature products from High Meadows Farm (including roasted garlic). Come and share a feast and provide input on the Vermont Organic Farmers marketing plan. Registration is requested for the free social to follow so we know how much food to prepare. Please register via the link below or call (802) 434-4122. Directions: 4-1/2 miles from Putney on Westminster West Rd. or Google Map
