Cover Crop Strategies for Soil Health and Seed Production & NOFAvore Social

This workshop is funded by a Specialty Crop Block Grant and offered at no charge. Pre-registration requested to attend the NOFAvore social.

In this workshop, Andrew Knafel will discuss the successes and failures of various cover crops he has utilized over the years. The workshop will cover crop timing, selection, and planting methods. Andrew will also touch on growing rye seed and how easy it is to produce. Clear Brook Farm is a certified organic farm growing a mixture of small fruits, mixed veggies, oil seed, and grain crops on about 50 acres. We’ll use freshly harvested vegetables from the farm to top pizzas at the NOFAvore social starting at 6pm!

Directions: We are located on the corner of Rt. 7A and Hidden Valley Rd. in Shaftsbury.

  • From the north on Rt 7: take exit 3/Arlington exit and follow 2-mile access road to 7A. Head South on 7A about 4-5 miles. We are on the East side of 7A across from the "Chocolate Barn".
  • From the south on Rt 7: take exit 2/ Shaftsbury exit. Head North on 7A for about 4-5 miles. We are on the East side of 7A 1/4 mile past the Serenity on Motel.

Parking: Please park on the grass across from farmstand parking lot.
