Chickens & Bees (NOFA-VT Summer Workshop Series Event)

July 17, 2010 - 10:30am - 2:00pm

In this interactive workshop we will learn how to integrate free-range chickens for eggs and meat, and bee hives for pollination and honey, into your lawn & gardens - without having them become a free meal for the wild creatures that share your land. We’ll show 3 models of Chicken Tractors and visit the bee yard while discussing how to set up, tend, harvest, and sell the extra to offset expenses. Please bring a bagged lunch; we will provide blueberry cobbler for dessert! In addition to chickens and bees, Honey Dew Homestead includes a small orchard, a large vegetable garden, and an experimental rice paddy.
