Celebrate Your Farmer Social: Elmer Farm

July 18, 2013 - 5:30pm - 7:30pm

Join us for farm-fresh pizza from NOFA-VT’s mobile pizza oven and a community celebration. Elmer Farm is a certified organic farm with 20 acres of land in mixed vegetables, flowers, dry beans and cover crops. Spencer and Jennifer Blackwell purchased the Elmer Farm through the Vermont Land Trust's Farmland Access program in 2006 after taking part in the farmer program Burlington's Intervale Center. Since coming to Middlebury, they have established a 70 member on-farm CSA pick up, and sell at the Middlebury Farmers Market and coop as well. They manage all this with an enthusiastic crew of 4 to 5 employees each season and a new year round farm manager. In addition, they have two young children who love being a part of the farm!

Directions: We are located at 855 Case Street, which is also Route 116. Driving South on Route 116, we are the first house on the right past Cady Road. Driving North on Route 116, we are on the left side of the road 0.7 miles north of the intersection of 125 & 116 in East Middlebury village at the blinking light. Please pull into the drive just north of the house that is marked with a small white sign that reads "farm" in red letters. Park immediately to the left on the grass across from the flower garden.

Will this be handicap accessible? This event will take place outside on the grass, on gravel roads and in the fields - terrain is rough during the farm tour.
