Summer Agriculture Associate, Sterling College Farm: Garden

During the summer months, three Agricultural Associates support the function of the Sterling Farm and students enrolled in the Summer Integrated Farming Practicum to manage the day-to-day operations.
This is a full-time, 40-45 hr/wk position for 6-8 weeks.

Duties/Expectations:
Participate in and supervise daily garden chores including watering, weeding & greenhouse venting.
Plant and maintain Sterling’s Gardens through work with the Garden Assistant, including seeding, transplanting, weeding, fertilization, mulching, and other tasks as needed.
Participate in weekly harvests and CSA set-up.
Provide curricular support from farm for the variety of summer programs offered at Sterling
Supervise student work crews
Maintain careful records according to the needs of the Sterling Farm and instructional program
Communicate with the Farm Manager and Farm Assistant to prioritize weekly work needs
Work in other areas of the farm (livestock, woodlot) as need arises

Compensation:
$200/wk stipend, paid biweekly
Single-room, on-campus housing
3 meals/day in Sterling dining hall when the kitchen is open
Access to produce from the farm
Tuition waiver for any of the Sustainable Working Landscape summer series workshops, as space allows
Experience in teaching and supervising in an educational farm context
