Farm to Cafeteria is the umbrella for several local food purchasing and education programs which reconnect people to their local food producers by bringing local food into hospitals, workplace cafeterias, and other institutional settings, as well as, school and college cafeterias.
NOFA-VT is very involved in bringing school food service and farmers together as a partner in VT Food Education Every Day (VT FEED) farm to school statewide project.
Working with the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Foods and Marketing, NOFA-VT is helping establish a local purchasing network between farmers, distributors and state institutions.
Reconnecting to local producers has become a priority for many colleges and hospitals in VT through farm to college and farm to hospital projects. NOFA-VT works with Vermont Fresh Network to establish these connections.
Local institutions can demonstrate their commitment to the health and well-being of their staff and clients and to the economic and environmental health by offering high quality, fresh, local food in their cafeterias through efficient, strategic programs to benefit farmers, food service, students and communities.
